  • Speaker Bio: 

    Dr. Karol Sikora, PhD, MA, MSc, BSc, is an Adjunct Lecturer and a Postdoctoral Researcher at the National University of Ireland, Galway and is involved in the €0.5 million international project: ‘Innovation in Irish Timber Usage’, funded by the Irish Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine. He also acts as a co-supervisor of PhD Walsh Fellow carrying out the project: ’The influence of silvicultural practice on the structural properties of Irish timber’, funded by Teagasc.

    Dr. Sikora is active member of 3 COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) Actions related to the timber engineering field, a Member of Task Group 1 of Timber Standards Consultative Committee of National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI), and acts as referee for the several international journals, including: Construction and Building Materials & Materials in Civil Engineering. His research experience is interdisciplinary and research interests include areas of: engineered-wood product, concrete technology, timber structures, sustainable development, and related areas, as well as project management. Dr. Sikora’s collaborative work has led to over 20 conference presentations and publications in high impact academic journals.
