Speaker Bio:
Rebecca Maughan joined UCD Business School in 2012 as a Lecturer in Accounting. Rebecca is currently studying for her PhD in the area of corporate sustainability practices at the Amsterdam Business School at the University of Amsterdam. Rebecca completed her undergraduate (B.Comm) and master’s (M.Acc) level education at UCD. She is also a member of the Chartered Accountants in Ireland (CAI), having qualified with Arthur Andersen and KPMG. Prior to her appointment in UCD, she was a lecturer at School of Business, Dublin Institute of Technology. Rebecca’s research interests are qualitative in nature and span a range of disciplines including: corporate sustainability practices and reporting, corporate governance, organizational identity and accountability in family firms, accounting education and qualitative methods. Her research work is currently focused on two main projects: the first is in the area of sustainability, identity and accountability in a family firm and the second focuses on the governance process in Irish semi-state bodies. A range of book chapters, professional articles, working and conference papers have been published from these projects.
Rebecca has been the recipient of a number of research funding awards. Individual awards include a New Horizons Grant from the Irish Research Council in 2012 and the Irish Accounting and Finance Association Doctoral Funding Award in 2012. In collaboration with colleagues in DIT, she was part of successful projects receiving funding from the National Academy for the Integration of Research, Teaching and Learning and the DIT Post-Graduate Research & Development Skills Programme.
Aideen O’Dochartaigh:Aideen O’Dochartaigh is an Irish Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow at the Quinn School of Business, University College Dublin. She recently completed her PhD in sustainable business at the School of Management, University of St Andrews. Her research interests are in the areas of sustainability accounting, social enterprise and alternative organisational forms.
